Even in those days when they were still being produced, they were not cheap for some one with meanxxxxxx careful parents who paid only 9d a week pocket money and only then when all chores for the week had been completed. I also inherited my cousin's lead farm - which may account for my return to childhood - all that lead and lead paint being bad for the brain.
So, I kept it and my daughter played with it. Then, in my second childhood, much like dear Miss Barbellion, I decided I needed to increase my garden resources. Sadly, unlike her, I haven't yet found somebody selling off a huge carton of it at a knock down price.

But you seem to have so much and a great deal of it looks pristine. The prices on Ebay now would often require a mortgage, so it's back to my little Britain's backyard border for me - not the rolling acres I had hoped for!

Wonderful stuff, so wish it was still in production, but the safetly police wouldsoon ban it as children all seem to ingest their toys these days.

Happy gardening, both large and small scale!jenannhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00321001863688006661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825557015623591306.post-71671979442279805812015-06-23T14:25:24.945+01:002015-06-23T14:25:24.945+01:00And just consider how much smaller and neater your...And just consider how much smaller and neater your fingers were in childhood than mine are now!Cestinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03050699324845479257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2825557015623591306.post-53065089701284215482015-06-23T14:08:09.203+01:002015-06-23T14:08:09.203+01:00My brother and I each had a Britain's garden a...My brother and I each had a Britain's garden and he had one of their farms, so we used to create quite a landscape! I remember the frustration of the fiddly hinges, greenhouses and pergolas, too. As I was so much older - and thus more dexterous - than my brother, [I always made up his Airfix aeroplane kits, for instance] I did most of the actual putting together of the gardens, and we argued about where things should go!
